CAPNEMO Attends Annual Head Start Jubilee
Earlier this month, CAPNEMO attended the Missouri Head Start Association’s Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon in Jefferson City. This year’s gathering was especially meaningful as it marked the 60th anniversary of Head Start. We were proud to join fellow Missouri Community Action Agencies in celebrating the lasting impact of this program by honoring the leaders, volunteers, parents, and children whose lives have been shaped by its mission.
A highlight of the day was meeting Pam LeFranz, who we had just met and discovered is from Wyaconda, Missouri—located in Clark County, one of the areas CAPNEMO serves. Pam shared that her journey with Head Start began in 1971 when she took a position at one of Kirksville’s centers. She worked for CAPNEMO until 1974 and, later in her career, became the Head Start Director for Missouri Valley Community Action Agency. Eventually, she went on to serve as their Executive Director. After retirement, Pam served on the CAPLAW board and now holds the position of Vice President on the Missouri Head Start Association Board.
What a small world—and what a legacy of dedication to Head Start and community action!
Happy birthday, Head Start!
