The CAPNEMO Head Start Program announces a vacancy for a Teacher at our Kirksville site. This is a full-time, full-year position with benefits, including retirement.
The Teacher instructs children in activities designed to promote social-emotional, physical, and intellectual growth needed for primary school in preschool, day care center, or other child development facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include planning daily schedule and weekly plan, supporting the program's goals of the learning environment, assessment and individualization, health and safety, parent/family involvement, record keeping, and volunteers and community involvement
Education/experience: At least one of the following: 1) an associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education, 2) an associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education (15 credit hours) with experience teaching preschool-age children; 3) a baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children.
Must pass a Child and Elder Care Worker screening, provide proof of a yearly physical exam and TB test, and participate in all required training. Must maintain current First Aid and CPR certification. Must maintain a valid Class "F" driver's license, have reliable transportation and meet Missouri automobile liability minimum requirements.
Early Head Start Teacher -Kirksville
CAPNEMO announces an opening as an Early Head Start Teacher. This is a full-time/full-year position.
The EHS Teacher has major responsibility for maintaining a classroom environment that is nurturing, consistent, stable, and supportive of establishing close relationships with the infants and toddlers in care and their parents. The EHS teacher develops appropriate plans and individualized learning experiences for infants and toddlers in care. S/he supervises classroom volunteers. Participates in parent/teacher conferences and home visits. Works to fully involve families in the program. Follows all Missouri Childcare Licensing Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards and meets all Head Start recording-keeping and recording requirements.
A qualified applicant will have at a minimum a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in infant/toddler or an AA or better degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field). Experience preferred.

The Substitute will assist classroom staff and cooperate in a supportive role, carrying out developmentally appropriate activities.
